The Popcorn World News Report
Hard News- Hard To Hear, Hard To Understand
Is this right or wrong?
The government spent $250,000 supporting the Popcorn Board in their efforts to promote our beloved popcorn. That is about 31,000 movie buckets of popcorn. The board also gets funding from the private sector mostly from the major popcorn retailers. Seems like a kernel in a bucket when you consider the $16 trillion debt, but then again money’s money. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to support agribusiness, but I wonder if smaller producers get as much support as the mega companies.

Breathe it in- The popcorn lung disease that hit the headlines a few years ago was about the workers that were filling the bags in the factory, but now we have a man suing over his three pack a day habit at home. It makes you take pause to think about everything we buy and consume. How about those new steam in the bag veggies? think there might be some bpa in there?

That’s the news I found this week on wild web as it relates to popcorn. Some of it is a bit scary and some of it funny. The reality of the awful stuff you can be exposed to in packaged processed foods will hopefully guide you to consider making your own batch of fresh popcorn at home topped with all the favorite toppings you choose. Take a few minutes to peruse the site for fun recipes and gadgets that will help you create some homemade delicious gourmet snacks without the chemical soup.
Leave me a comment if you have an opinion, idea or tip. I would love to hear from you!
Happy Poppin’
